New Tasting Rooms Springing Up All Over

New and exciting wine tasting options are in full-bloom all over northern Sonoma County. The new tasting options run the gamut from historic properties to new downtown tasting venues that pair original works of art with wine tasting pleasure. Here are a few new options worth exploring.

Healdsburg

Ken Schilling’s In Vino Veritas presents a new tasting experience across from the historic Raven Theater. Visitors can experience wines from maverick boutique wine makers  and winemaking legends, contemporary Wine Country art, and their choice of a stand-up tasting bar or sit-down tasting tables handcrafted from hammered copper.

Artiste, on Healdsburg Avenue, combines the  works of contemporary impressionist artists  with each one of their small-lot wine releases. Across the street from Oakville Grocery is the recently opened Topel tasting room. Visitors are treated to great wines at reasonable prices in  elegant surroundings. Old Roma Station on Front Street near the old steel bridge is exploding with new tasting options. Six new labels are now pouring out of this location with the opening of Hudson Street Wineries. Ferrari-Carano has opened a second tasting room on the Healdsburg Plaza. The tasting room affords guests an opportunity to taste wines from the winery’s Mendocino Lazy Creek label. Hauck Cellars is located just down the street from Rosenblum. The newly renovated, circa 1948 quonset hut welcomes visitors to taste the latest releases at the bar, or to unwind on the patio and swirl away the afternoon.

Russian River

The new Copain Winery on Eastside Road offers some of the best vistas of Russian River in the area. The winery produces French inspired wines that are winning high marks from critics and visitors alike. Thomas George Estates now occupies the former Davis Bynum winery on Westside Road. Substantial renovations  and small-lot handcrafted wines make this winery a must-stop.

Geyserville

Visible from Hwy 101, Trione Winery and the historic old stone winery welcome visitors to extraordinary views of Alexander Valley. After 35 years of growing grapes, the Trione family has built a showplace to demonstrate their winemaking and wine growing skills. Downtown Geyserville is the home of Kerry Damskey’s Terroirs Artisan. Visitors can taste wines from four different terroirs.

The winery and tasting room landscape continues to evolve throughout the Wine Country. Visitors have new options to find that perfect wine or setting. Spotlight’s Wine Country Guide is your best choice for keeping current on what’s new in the Wine Country.
