Hell’s Kitchen Winner Chef Christina Machamer Will Lead the Winery’s Programs
CALISTOGA, Calif. (April 18, 2011) – B Cellars (www.bcellars.com), a premium winery and tasting salon located on the picturesque Silverado Trail in Calistoga, is proud to announce a number of enhanced tasting programs and the appointment of Chef Christina Machamer as wine educator and chef. Machamer, a Hell’s Kitchen winner, Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate and certified sommelier, will bring her epicurean expertise to B Cellars versatile, award-winning wines to offer guests a more fully rounded, sensory wine tasting experience.
Since the winery’s inception, B Cellars multi-vineyard winemaking strategy and the resultant versatility of its wines have made it a favorite of chefs and restaurateurs. A modern-day négociant in the classic French model, B Cellars crafts exceptional blends produced from grapes procured from Napa Valley’s most coveted vineyard properties. The B Cellars approach delivers flavor profiles rarely available from single-vineyard, single-varietal wineries, making B Cellars vintages ideal for pairing with creatively articulated foods.
To better showcase the versatility and depth of B Cellars wines, Chef Machamer has been brought on board to develop and lead expanded interactive food and wine tasting programs for winery guests, with the goal of demonstrating through sensatory experience the flexibility and depth of B Cellars wines.
“B Cellars was keen to attract a person with solid culinary credentials who could help us convey to winery visitors the reasons for our ‘food-centric’ reputation in the culinary community,” said Duffy Keys, principal. “We were impressed with Chef Machamer’s qualifications and culinary work experience at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro and with Gordon Ramsay at the London Hotel in Los Angeles – not mention her incredible personality.”
The B Cellars tasting experiences offer a number of expanded options:
Why do wine and food work so well together – or in some instances compete? Chef Machamer shares her hints on wine and food pairing basics. Guests taste five vintage wines (one white and four reds) as Chef Machamer provides an insider’s look at how chefs taste wine and what they look for in food pairings. Food complements will help guests understand and take home fundamental wine and food paring principles that can be recreated in the home kitchen.
