Materra Tasting Room Image

Any visit to Napa Valley is incomplete without a stop in St. Helena to stroll Main Street and browse its many shops and restaurants. And no visit to St. Helena is complete without a stop at the Materra |  Cunat Family Vineyards tasting room.

Located on Main Street just north of Adams, Materra’s inviting wine tasting boutique is the natural place to begin, end, or turnaround your walk through the postcard-perfect center of St. Helena. It’s also an ideal place to relax and taste before or after a meal in one of several critically acclaimed restaurants that are only steps away.

Materra means Mother Earth in Latin. The Cunat family chose the name to symbolize their commitment to nurturing Mother Earth’s gifts of superior soil, climate, and water to produce some of the highest quality grapes and wines from Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll district.

Materra is family operated as well as owned. On most days, your tasting room host will be the oldest Cunat daughter, Neena. The talents of her younger sister, Amie, will be evident in the seasonally changing modern art that adorns the tasting room. Patriarch Brian and other members of the Cunat family are involved in every step of the agricultural and winemaking processes that produce Materra’s wines.

Spring 2014 marks the start of construction for Materra’s new winery and tasting room at the Cunat Family Vineyards on Big Ranch Road in the Oak Knoll district south of Yountville. Even after completion in early 2015, Materra’s production will remain tiny by commercial standards. Most Materra wines will continue to be available only at the tasting room. Then, as now, the best way to ensure a supply to share with friends and family will be to join Materra’s wine club.
