Murphy-Goode Winery Supports Military Families And Veterans With Release Of Homefront Red

New Red Blend Donates a Portion of Proceeds to Operation Homefront; Plans to Raise At Least $300,000

Murphy-Goode-Operation-HomefrontHEALDSBURG, Calif., Sept. 9, 2013 — Supporting veterans and military families for more than two years via its relationship with Operation Homefront, Murphy-Goode Winery introduces a new red blend, Homefront Red, dedicated to helping raise funds for military families and veterans in need. With an emphasis on quality winemaking, Murphy-Goode is committed to good wine, good fun and good deeds, and will donate a portion of proceeds from every bottle of Homefront Red sold. All funds raised will benefit Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to military families and wounded warriors. Murphy-Goode will collect a guaranteed minimum contribution of $200,000 and hopes to raise at least $300,000 for the organization.

“We’re so proud to deepen our commitment to Operation Homefront with the release of Homefront Red,” said David Ready Jr., winemaker for Murphy-Goode. “The wine, a smooth and fruit-forward red blend comprising grapes from California’s acclaimed regions including Dry Creek Valley and Bennett Valley, salutes our service men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. We hope to raise at least $300,000, which will help a lot of families who truly need it.”

Since its inception in 2002, Operation Homefront has bestowed more than $170 million dollars of funding to programs that benefit military families. These programs include food assistance, vision care, community events, holiday programs, moving assistance and its Wounded Warrior Wives program. Murphy-Goode’s contribution will help continue this financial assistance to national military families in need.

“We are extremely thankful for our partnership with Murphy-Goode,” said Amy Palmer, Chief Operating Officer for Operation Homefront. “Our ability to continue to provide aid to those who have given their lives to protect us is made possible by supporters like the winery and the launch of Homefront Red. If there’s one thing that can make a glass of this wine taste even better, it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change and improve someone’s life with it.”

Homefront Red is a blended varietal, incorporating Syrah, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel grapes. Its juicy black cherry and raspberry flavors are complemented by toasty vanilla notes, and each glass ends in a long finish, making for a food-friendly wine that pairs well with grilled dishes. A Goode wine for a Goode cause, Homefront Red is available nationwide wherever wine is sold.

Located in the beautiful and acclaimed Alexander Valley region of Sonoma County, Murphy-Goode is a family-owned winery known for award-winning California wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded by Tim Murphy, Dale Goode and David Ready, Sr. in 1985 and now part of Jackson Family Wines, Murphy-Goode believes in great wines and good times with family and friends. The winery is proud to support Operation Homefront and its work with wounded warriors and the families of service members.
