Fifth annual cheese festival promises to be the best year yet with Saturday Seminars hosted by the industry’s top cheese experts and the Monday trade day featuring Ruth Reichl.

The fifth annual California’s Artisan Cheese Festival is around the corner and we have an amazing weekend of festivities planned. This year’s event runs from March 25 – March 28, 2011 at the Sheraton Sonoma County – Petaluma.

The weekend’s lineup of activities kicks off with the incredibly popular Friday field trips. Participants have the option to visit an array of working dairy farms such as Straus Family Creamery, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company, or an intimate encounter with the water buffalo at Ramini Mozzarella.

Saturday’s seminars feature industry leaders such as Laura Werlin, Janet Fletcher, Lassa Skinner, and Daphne Zepos. The interactive, taste-driven seminars offer an array of educational topics such as “Curd Pulling” and “Cheese Essentials” to the always sold out “Cheese and Beer” and the effervescent, yet sophisticated “Bubbles and Brie”. Attendees can customize their day however they desire for a mix of fun and informative cheese seminars.

Sunday’s Marketplace will be under the biggest tent to date and will feature over 60 vendors, artisan cheesemakers, vintners, craft brewers, and chef demos. All attendees will receive the signature Artisan Cheese Festival tote bag and a wine glass so they can sip and savor – and pack some to go!

The festival closes out with Monday’s Trade Day (for professionals; invitation only), which features Ruth Reichl sharing her vision of cheese in retail, restaurants and homes. Ruth will be interviewed by author, consultant, and cheese expert Clark Wolf.
A full schedule will be posted to the website in early December; register for updates at: artisancheesefestival.
