February 22, 2011 – As of today, the event is still six weeks away. But details are beginning to emerge as to the wineries and restaurants that will be represented at Toast of the Town, scheduled for April 7 at San Francisco City Hall.
Organizing a wine-and-food gala on the scale of Toast of the Town is enormously complex. Part of the fun is watching all the moving pieces tumble into place, discovering who’s in and who’s out, and charting a course at the last minute through the hundreds (technically, thousands) of wine-and-food pairing opportunities the event ultimately delivers.
Based on last year’s performance, you can trust the event organizers to deliver at least 500 wines from around the world and dishes from at least 30 top San Francisco restaurants. Our advice: buy tickets now to get the early bird pricing, then stay tuned to this site and others tracking the event to stay up-to-date on who’s pouring and serving–and where. Then chart your course to the wines you most want to taste and the restaurant fare you most want to sample. Go early to miss the worst of the crowd. (A VIP ticket will get you into the event an hour early at a nominal upcharge.) And enjoy.
Here’s what we know so far about the wine producers and restaurants planning to participate. Our list is preliminary, unofficial and subject to change. We’ll update you with better information as we discover it.
